The Raspberry Pi is a single board computer with an ARM 11 processor. The model I am using is
a Model B rev 1. It is important to note that this computer runs RISC architecture and not CISC
which means all programs, must be compiled or programmed to run with RISC. Although RISC is
very limiting with the range of programs that the Raspberry Pi can use, it allows for compact board
design and low power processing.

The board was designed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to be an affordable computer to teach children in the UK about programming. Eventually the open source community adopted it because of its high programability and affordability. The potiental for hobbyist projects are endless.
